UNREAL ENGINE 4 COMPARISON

UNREAL ENGINE COMPARISON

EPIC GAMES announced UNREAL ENGINE 4 after this last underwhelming E3 (2012). If you were wondering where the Next-Gen games were during the presentation's you weren't alone. A lot of us were expecting some amazing looking games, maybe a sneak peek at the future. While we did get a look at some amazing looking games such as "The Last of Us" and "Beyond" or "Halo 4" (Only Game Xbox had up their sleeves this year) it still didn't impress most of us. Even Nintendo who actually was presenting a brand "New" console couldn't get the excitement going in the building. The mini-games designed for Nintendo Land are even more childish then SNES games back in the day. They were beyond simplistic and couldn't hold anybody's attention.

Afterwards, when the big three were done showing off their best efforts, Epic Games announces the new Unreal Engine 4 which is being used to power 8 unannounced Next-Gen titles. Although these graphics can be achieved with High End PC's two years ago, these graphics will be achievable at an affordable price in the next two years. We are coming closer to an era where every game will look like Uncharted, Crysis, or Battlefield 3.

Just imagine playing a game like Skyrim with those kind of graphics, it would be incredible. So the next-gen might not be a HUGE leap for graphics, but I think we are reaching a point where games will get harder to age. So I thought it would be cool to show the progress of the Unreal Engine's history followed by the new pics of UNREAL ENGINE 4.

Enjoy!

the most impressive thing about this announcement is the new editor designed to make it easier for artists to implement their work straight into the game. Making the artist have more power can only be a good thing, right? I think so.
